Monmouthshire is go!

We have a well established rural broadband network across Monmouthshire, South-East Wales, and now it is time to convert it to fibre. If you live in this area we'd love you to join the full-fibre revolution.

Kingcoed and Llandenny have been chosen as the first areas after very constructive meetings with community representatives - we build where you want us.

We've designed and planned phase one of the project which will bring fibre to the first 50 properties around the villages. Earlier in the year we ordered the high-speed fibre link from Openreach to link the area back to the rest of our network and provide the capacity we need to deliver Gigabit speeds. We've started discussions with local land-owners to get agreement to bury our fibre-optic cables to link up each property, and provide the flexibility to extend the network onwards into surrounding areas. Our equipment and materials for the first stages of the build are on order and should be delivered shortly.

With neighbouring communities of Llandenny Walks, Gwernesney, Llangwm and Llansoy also suffering from poor broadband, these areas could be the next phase of the project if there's sufficient interest from the community.

This is an expensive endeavour (Openreach are charging us nearly £20,000 just to install their fibre into the village) but with with financial support from both the UK and Welsh Governments, the Rural Gigabit Voucher Scheme and community assistance with land access and some digging we can do this. We are able to subsidise the installation cost of the service, which is usually £3,000 or more for a residential connection, or £7,000 for a business connection. However, we can only do that if most of the community agrees to commit to the project.
