BT/Openreach Based Fibre Broadband Products

Bogons want everyone to have access to fibre so we've been concentrating on some rural areas everyone ignores leaving the larger providers with deeper pockets to squabble over the rest.

While they carry on we can use their fibre to reach everywhere we have not built, though depending on the provider we may have to compromise a little:

  • Most do not do supply symmetrical broadband to protect more expensive leased line sales.
  • Speeds are more limited to enable higher prices for those that need faster.
  • Their wholesale services are generally expensive leaving wafer thin margins so we cannot compete with their retail offerings
  • They can offer cut price deals to get people to sign up, and while it is almost zero cost to them to do that we would be paying their normal price.

Bogons offer clean simple internet for a reasonable price not hidden behind annual £4.00 or more mid term rises.

You can use any wifi router or system you like, we will provide an ethernet port for you to connect to. We will not supply and insist you use a router that sends your data to an AI or advertisers.

We will not require contracts longer than the minimum the wholesaler insists on. Generally that will be 12 months, then you may stay while our service continues to meet your needs.

In some areas we have unbundled the exchange so have direct access to Openreach services and our own backhaul. In others we use a wholesale supplier like BT to aggregate services and deliver them to our data centres.

We also offer a number of business grade 'leased-line' Internet services where you require a higher service level and faster response to any problems.

Notes
1. Connection fee includes the cost of bringing fibre to the boundary of your property but in some more difficult situations the provider may need to charge extra (known as "Excess Construction Charges") which will be passed on. For some services the connection fee may be waived for a 24month or longer initial term

2. We aim to fix all faults as quickly as possible, and intend to fix almost all faults within the target repair time. However there will always be some faults that we unfortunately are unable to fix as quickly as we'd like. These are typically caused by circumstances outside our control such as adverse weather, problems with access to the fault location, where we are dependent on a third party and they are unable to meet their SLA with us, or where the scale of the fault or repair is beyond what we would reasonably expect. We will always keep you informed of our progress and expected repair times in such circumstances.

For BT/Openreach the response time will be their standard for these services, a faster response is available for an additional fee, please enquire for details as availability and price vary.

3. Our "Openreach Based Fibre Broadband" products are designed and priced based on typical residential usage. You will always be able to burst your connection up to as close to the service speed as your in-property equipment allows though at peak times speeds may be lower but should be at least 30% or the line speed. We would expect that an Internet speed-test from a device connected by wired Ethernet into the router to be able to achieve speeds over 750Mbps the majority of the time on a 1Gb/s service. Where we see repeated sustained bandwidth usage of over 50Mbps, we may ask you to move to a more appropriate product (though you may not need the higher speed the higher speed product includes an allowance for higher use).

4. DIA services require a site specific quote to determine the exact extra costs of providing the fibre and backhaul to a site. These can be significant more that the basic price listed. The speed may be a soft or hard limit depending on availability, we will detail what is available in a quote prior to ordering

All services are offered subject to our Terms and Conditions
