Openreach Based FTTP Broadband

Bogons builds and operates full-fibre networks in selected communities. Where our own fibre network is not available, we may still be able to provide fibre broadband using BT/Openreach-based wholesale services.

These services are useful where Openreach FTTP is available at your property and you want a straightforward broadband service delivered by Bogons, with clear pricing and no automatic mid-contract price rises.

Wholesale FTTP is different from Bogons-built fibre. These services are generally asymmetric, meaning download speeds are higher than upload speeds, and installation and repair processes depend partly on the underlying wholesale network.

  • Most wholesale FTTP services provide lower upload speeds than download speeds.
  • Available speed profiles depend on the wholesale provider and the property served.
  • We may not always be able to match short-term promotional offers from larger retail providers.
  • Repair targets and installation processes depend partly on the underlying wholesale network.

You can use your own router or Wi-Fi system. We provide an Ethernet handoff for your equipment and do not require you to use a locked-down router supplied by us.

We do not require a longer initial contract than the wholesale provider requires. For most services this is 12 months, with a 24-month option where this reduces or removes the connection fee. After the initial term, you can continue the service while it still meets your needs.

In some areas we have direct access to Openreach services and use our own backhaul. In other areas we use a wholesale supplier to aggregate services and deliver them to our network.

We also offer business-grade leased-line Internet services where you need symmetric bandwidth, a higher service level, or faster response to faults.

To check availability, please contact us with your postcode and the address where service is required. We will confirm which wholesale fibre options are available before placing an order.

Notes
1. The connection fee includes the standard cost of providing fibre service to your property. In some more difficult situations the wholesale provider may apply additional charges, known as Excess Construction Charges. If these apply, we will confirm them before placing an order. For some services the connection fee may be reduced or waived if you choose a 24-month or longer initial term.

2. We aim to fix all faults as quickly as possible, and intend to fix most faults within the target repair time shown. The target repair time is not a guaranteed fix time. Some faults may take longer because of circumstances outside our control, such as adverse weather, access problems, dependency on a third-party network provider, or the scale and complexity of the repair required. We will keep you informed of progress and expected repair times in these circumstances.

For BT/Openreach based services, repair response times are based on the wholesale service level available for that product. Faster response options may be available for an additional fee; please ask for details, as availability and pricing vary.

3. Our "Openreach Based Fibre Broadband" products are contended broadband services, designed and priced for normal residential, home-working and small-business use. You should usually be able to burst up to the product speed where your router, wiring, Wi-Fi and in-property equipment allow, but speeds can be lower at busy times. For a 1Gb/s service, we would normally expect a wired Ethernet speed test from a suitable device to exceed 750Mbps for much of the time. Wi-Fi speed tests may be significantly lower depending on your router, device, building layout and local radio conditions. If your service regularly carries sustained high usage that is not typical for the selected product, we may discuss a more suitable service with you.

4. DIA services require a site-specific quote to confirm the exact cost of providing fibre and backhaul to a site. Installation, fibre construction and backhaul costs can vary significantly by location and may be higher than the indicative prices listed. The speed may be delivered as either a soft or hard limit depending on availability. We will confirm the available bearer, speed options, service level and any excess construction charges before ordering.
